A special place in the community.
For the past few weeks my class has been learning on why
marae are so special so we can practice for our test the next week.
I found this topic a bit hard because I don't really know anything
about marae. Because I've spent most of my life in Australia.

I found this topic a bit hard because I don't really know anything
about marae. Because I've spent most of my life in Australia.
A marae is a special place to the community because you learn about your
Tikanga and kawa .The marae should be used as a heart for the community
every time you go to the marae You learn about your whakapapa and
tupuna also connections.A marae holds all your ancestors history in a
marae it is a place you can hold celebration tangi and more. And a place
you can call home.
At a marae everyone should know to show tikanga while the kaumatua is
speaking. You get taught from a young age not to jump on the pillows and
mattress while the kaumatua and kuia are out of the room.Everyone knows
when they get in the marae they need to show respect. You also need to
show real good manners when you are around the kaumatua because it
shows him who you are.It is so disrespectful to walk and talk while the
kaumatua is doing his mihi.
A special part of a marae is that you learn about your whakapapa and tupuna.
You can hear the kaumatua telling you about your waka, roto, awa, hapu, marae and
maunga. And how it relates to you and your family everywhere you go you
maunga. And how it relates to you and your family everywhere you go you
know who you are and where you were raised. And know matter what you
always have a place you can call home.
Sooner or later you will learn about your family connection when you walk
into a marae it automatically shows where your from.Because the art in the
marae shows a hole story of how your family connected.A marae hold all of
your history from your ancestors and how they connected with our family.
To sum it all up a marae shows you your whakapapa how you connect to your
family and last but not least your tikanga and kawa.Every maori should know
where there from and how they connect with their family.you Start knowing
